Novalmendro R&D&I

30_1

At Nolvalmendro just as at Todolivo, the R&D&I form part of our hallmark. For some years we hve been researching the high density almond. Our experience, the research carried out and the excellent results obtained by Todolivo in High Density Olive Groves, served as a basis for the development of this profitable crop. The latest trials carried out by our company on almond trees are as follows:

Latest field trials carried out

  • Trial of high density almond trees (October 2013)
    Plantation layout: 5 x 1.5 m
    Variety: Guara® grafted on RP-20
    Locality: Lora del Río (Seville)

Trial of densities in the line and in the path (March 2014)
    layouts: 5x 2 m ; 5×1.5 m; 4×1.25
    Variety: Guara® grafted on RP-20
Localities: Pedro Abad (Santa María) and Andujar (Jaén)

  • Trial of varieties of almond trees (February 2014)
    Layout: 5 x1.25 m
    Varieties: Guara®, Avijor y Soleta® grafted on RP-20
Locality: Pedro Abad (Cruz de los Huertos 1) Cordoba

Trial of shaping pruning (June 2014)
Formation in mono-cone without lateral pruning, formation in mono-cone with lateral pruning, Gradual topping with no lateral pruning and gradual topping with lateral pruning.
    Layout: 5 x1.25 m
Varieties: Guara®, Avijor and Soleta® grafted on RP-20
    Locality: Pedro Abad. Cordoba

Next Trial

Shortly, we plan to carry out a comparative trial of densities in high density almond trees, with different varieties and patterns. (Novalmendro in collaboration with the RAEA and Agromillora).

  • Trial of adaptation of varieties to the narrow high density system (3.5×1.2 m); with formation with no hub and with mechanical and manual pruning. The varieties to be compared are Soleta, Guara, Vayro, Constanti, Ferraduel and Avijor on rootpack RP-20.
  • Trial of adaptation of varieties and pruning to the narrow high density system (3.5×1.2 m); with hub formation (with bamboo) and 100% mechanical and 100% manual pruning. The varieties to be compared are Soleta, Guara, Vayro, Constanti, Ferraduel and Avijor on rootpack RP-20.
  • Trial of adaptation of rootpacks to the narrow high density system (3.5×1.2 m); with formation with no hub and with 100% mechanical pruning. The rootpacks to be compared are RP-20, RP-40, RReplant, Tetra, Montizo, and Irta grafting Avijor.
  • Trial of adaptation of varieties and pruning to the narrow high density system (3.5×1.2 m); with hub formation (with bamboo) and 100% mechanical pruning and 100% manual pruning. The rootpacks to compare are RP-20, RP-40, RReplant, Tetra, Montizo, and Irta grafting Avijor.
  • Comparative trial of rootpacks in the extensive layout high density system (5×2 m) and Intensive (6×3); Variety Avijor on RP-20, RP-40 and GF-677 with hub formation (with bamboo) and in vase shape (with bamboo).
